Our Mission

Certain key areas of Virginia are facing a crisis of leadership.

We’ve seen it impact our schools, our health system, and our economy; and it will define our future if we let it.

Over the last few years, we’ve fallen into a trap of low expectations. These low expectations have resulted in a state of depression and anxiety which results in defining “success” as losing by a slightly smaller margin than last time, while our Commonwealth and our families bear the effects of legislative logjams instead of real change.

Virginia deserves better.

Renew Virginia is committed to elevating candidates across the Commonwealth of Virginia who are agents of change — candidates who refuse to accept the current state of affairs and are willing to take a stand for transformative policies. Candidates who have confronted broken systems with successful strategies for renewal and change.

It’s time to give Virginia the leadership it deserves.

LEESBURG, VA - Renew Virginia and Juan Pablo Segura are proud to announce their first endorsement in the 2023 election cycle: Lauren Shernoff for School Board, representing the Leesburg District. Running as an Independent, Shernoff’s role as an educator and a parent in Loudoun County gives her unique insight into the issues facing the school system, and her strategy for renewal is informed by years of on-the-ground experience with school, parents, and students. “Renew Virginia is committed to supporting leaders that can bring fresh vision to old problems,” said Juan Pablo Segura, a candidate for the Virginia State Senate and founder of the PAC. “Lauren Shernoff has that vision, and she has the evidence to back it up. She’s been in the classroom for years — as a teacher and an administrator and a parent — she’s seen the problems from every angle. That experience, and her passion for public education, is going to help her drive positive change on the school board.” Shernoff is campaigning on a commitment to student safety, academic excellence, supporting educators, and building back trust through transparency with Loudoun families. “She knows it’s about the people, not the politics,” said Segura. “That’s why Renew Virginia is endorsing her, and why I am also personally endorsing Lauren Shernoff for Loudoun County School Board.” “I am honored by the endorsement, and accept both Juan Pablo and Renew Virginia’s vote of confidence,” said Shernoff. “Juan Pablo is leading the way for a new kind of conversation surrounding politics here in Virginia — a renewal of what we should expect from our political leaders, focused on solving real problems in our community. He’s also a man of action, and suing the school board for the release of the independent review was proof of his commitments.” Shernoff is the first candidate to receive an endorsement from Renew Virginia. The PAC will announce two subsequent rounds of endorsements in the month of May, and will continue to accept applications for any politician or political leader that is interested in furthering the goals of Renew Virginia and the mission statement of the organization. LOUDOUN COUNTY, VA — In January of this year, Virginia native and entrepreneur Juan Pablo Segura launched Renew Virginia, a PAC aimed at elevating political leaders who will enact practical and sustainable solutions for all Virginians, regardless of partisan commitments. Since its inception, more than 15 candidates from across the Commonwealth of Virginia have applied to Renew Virginia for “Renewal Investments;” including Democrats, Republicans, and Independents. The diversity of political affiliation and region underscores how the mission of Renew Virginia resonates with the Commonwealth’s rising political leaders. The applicants share an urgency for transformative policies and a common desire not simply to disrupt the status quo, but to uproot entrenched mindsets and replace failed solutions with proven strategies for renewal. “I bring a no-nonsense, pragmatic approach to governance,” wrote one Republican applicant. “It’s vitally important to me to base decisions on facts and data, and to focus all investments in public education to provide maximum benefits to the core constituents: students.” A Democratic applicant shared: “The status quo of our present leadership is all talk and no action. I want to see and bring about real policy change.” An Independent candidate pointed to the failure of current leaders to work for the interests of their constituents, and vowed in his application to “listen to all people equally, regardless of economic status; working together with staff and fellow supervisors to achieve positive outcomes for the people.” “The response and support that we’ve seen for the mission of Renew Virginia is incredibly encouraging,” said Segura. “It proves that there’s a massive appetite across the Commonwealth for real leaders who aren’t going to play it safe for the sake of preserving their political seat, but actually live up to their role as servants of the people.” Renew Virginia will be making its first endorsement and award for a Renewal Investment on May 1st, and two subsequent rounds of endorsements in the month of May. The PAC will continue to accept applications for any politician or political leader that is interested in furthering the goals of Renew Virginia and the mission statement of the organization. LOUDOUN COUNTY, VA – Today, entrepreneur and Virginia native Juan Pablo Segura celebrated the launch of Renew Virginia , a PAC dedicated to supporting the election of political leaders who are willing to challenge the status quo and enact transformational change. As the founder of a world-renowned technology company, Segura has experience in challenging entrenched bias and ineffective legacy systems. He founded Renew Virginia to target similar stagnation in political discourse and action, through investment in critical races from local school boards to statewide elections in Loudoun County and beyond. The objective of the PAC is to fund candidates that demonstrate a commitment to positive change, who have confronted broken systems with successful strategies for renewal. “ Renew Virginia is not a traditional PAC. Its focus is to encourage and support candidates that can shake up the status quo in key parts of Virginia. We’ve gotten satisfied with mediocrity in our leaders — we call it a victory when our candidate makes an inconsequential change to policy, or loses by a slightly lower margin than the cycle before. Renew Virginia exists to change that paradigm,” said Segura. “Virginia deserves leaders that can bring a fresh vision to old problems.” Renew Virginia will begin supporting candidates in early 2023. All candidates are eligible to apply for “Renewal Investments,” based on the following criteria: Why are you uniquely positioned to transform the current state of affairs? What will you do on Day 1? How will you change the status quo? What track record do you have in renewing businesses, organizations, or movements? Juan Pablo led an internal restructuring taskforce that put the organization back on its feet and made it financially sustainable while still delivering on important programming.

Juan Pablo currently resides in Leesburg, Virginia with his wife Cecilia and is so blessed to have his parents and family reside in the Northern Virginia area.
